Fees and expenses

For insurance, Dimension Insurance operates on a commissions basis and accordingly, does not charge any fees, expenses or any other amount for the financial advice provided to its clients.

For KiwiSaver, an ongoing advice fee on a portfolio may be charged up of up to 0.25% of the total value of the portfolio. Any other commission is paid to the adviser by the KiwiSaver provider.

Conflicts of interest and incentives

For all insurance products, Dimension and the financial adviser receive commissions from the insurance companies on whose policies we give advice. If you decide to take out insurance, the insurer will pay a commission to Dimension Insurance.

Contingent on the policy remaining in force for 24 months after it is first issued, Dimension receives 100% of the value of the first year’s premiums of your policy. Dimension may also receive an additional 80 to 120% of the first years’ premium, depending on the insurer. Both of the aforementioned commission payments are contingent on the policy remaining in force for 2 years from the date of which the policy is issued, Dimension receives between 5 and 10% of the premium for each year the policy remains in force thereafter.

We follow an advice process to ensure our recommendations are made on the basis of the client’s goals and circumstances. We work to ensure that our advisers are trained to manage conflicts of interest. In the instance of a conflict of interest, the clients goals and circumstances are the primary focus of the adviser.

For KiwiSaver products, we receive between 0.20% to 0.5% of the value of your portfolio per annum, this may reduce at thresholds and is contingent on the provider. We may receive tiered upfront fees of no greater than $150 on the successful application of a client, this is contingent on the value of your portfolio.
